We made it home, we made it our own Now we’re here to welcome you To where we rest, our hearts and minds To raise a glass and raise our mood Let’s spend some time away, from the big wild space Sing loud, raise your eyes from the ground So you can see what I can see D’ya think we could settle down and spend Another day in God’s own country? Let’s walk the arcades we knew, Hit the bars and stumble home through back to backs Through the pretty gritty, we’ll ride the ‘65 Along the old canal The city draws us home, and we’re glad to go. Sing loud, raise your eyes from the ground So you can see what I can see D’ya think we could settle down and spend Another day in God’s own country? Sing loud, raise your chin up from the ground So you can see what I can see D’ya think we could settle down and spend Another day in God’s own country? Sing loud, raise your chin up from the ground Another day in God’s own country

Based at Kirkstall Educational Cricket Club, MFTA Kirkstall is a band anyone can join, bringing together guitarists, ukulele players, violinists and percussion players, of all abilities and ages to play, sing and join together. A communal musical commune no less.

What MFTA have to say about the song... “We wrote the song together. It’s about making a home in Yorkshire, whether you come from here or not, and then being welcoming to others who are trying to do the same.”

Rich Huxley says:
“We’ve members from Leeds and all over Yorkshire. I settled here though I’m from Liverpool. We have members who were born in continental Europe who’ve made Yorkshire their home. Like the group itself, the song is a welcome to all, wherever they may come from.”

Music from the Attic have been supported by Leeds City Council’s wellbeing fund.
